Martin’s story of positivity in the face of personal tragedy is as humbling as it is inspiring. No one has done more than Martin to challenge leadership in Healthcare and change the conversation on critical issues of just culture and patient safety. Following the death of his wife during a ‘routine operation’ he founded the Clinical Human Factors Group, a charitable trust which aims to put Human Factors at the heart of clinical, managerial and organisational best practice in Healthcare industry. Martin (an experienced airline pilot) has tirelessly lobbied for change at the highest levels of government, nationally and internationally. His award-winning work was recognised in 2016 with an OBE and in 2017 with a Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons.
